An uptick in left-wing violence — including the assassination of Charlie Kirk in Utah and a shooting at an ICE facility in Texas — has led the Trump administration to take aggressive action against radical groups such as Antifa.

One week after Kirk’s killing, President Donald Trump condemned Antifa as a sick, dangerous, radical left disaster and officially labeled it a major terrorist organization.

Vice President JD Vance echoed this stance, stating that the administration would also pursue action against NGOs believed to be supporting or facilitating such violence.

With President Donald Trump formally designating Antifa a domestic terrorist organization, a new report sheds light on claims that a well-known billionaire may be channeling millions of dollars to extremist groups involved in violent unrest across the country.

According to a report by the Capital Research Center, George Soros’s Open Society Foundations has contributed over $80 million to organizations allegedly linked to terrorism or extremist violence.

The report states that more than $23 million was directed to seven groups that purportedly support domestic terrorism and criminal activity in the U.S., including involvement in or support for violence, property destruction, economic disruption, and harassment — actions that align with the legal definition of domestic terrorism.

The report also points to the Sunrise Movement, claiming it has received at least $2 million from the Open Society Foundations. It alleges the group has endorsed and solicited financial support for Antifa-linked organizations like the Stop Cop City/Defend the Atlanta Forest coalition. This coalition has been connected to acts of arson and violence targeting law enforcement and utility workers, including an incident where Molotov cocktails, bricks, and rocks were used in an attack on a police training center construction site, along with the burning of construction equipment.

The manuscript contends that Open Society’s tax-exempt status may be in jeopardy due to its funding of groups that openly admit to engaging in prohibited activities, potentially triggering an investigation.

Although a wide network of leftist groups exists, the Trump administration’s efforts to crack down on them will encounter obstacles. Unlike foreign terrorist organizations, there is no official legal list of domestic terrorist groups, which limits the administration’s ability to fully target their funding and apply broader enforcement measures. This, in turn, forces the administration to rely on existing legal tools, such as the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, conspiracy laws, and federal hate crime statutes.

Whatever action is taken, the uptick in Leftist violence needs to be stopped and it is clearly being financed by Leftist millionaires and billionaires using the Left’s nonprofit apparatus. The destructive efforts of Leftist organizations must be brought to a halt to the fullest extent of the law. If unaddressed the problem will only grow. Hopefully, with a coordinated, laser-focused effort, the Left’s insurgency will finally come to an end.
