Like environmentalists, European Union leaders have a self-flagellation fetish.

The proposal even includes those (ahem) reliable renewable energy sources and US gas imports the EU will use instead.

The EU hopes to move away from Russian gas by “enhancing energy efficiency, accelerating the deployment of renewable energy and diversifying supplies”, the European Commission said.

But, not surprisingly, the Russian gas ban is ultimately a joke. Not only due to it going into effect in 2 years (which can be changed when no one is looking) but also due to Europe’s plan B.

The move is nothing more than needless virtue signaling in an attempt to distract from the EU’s inner rot.
