Following a decision by a major international climate panel to scale back some of its most severe projections, President Trump celebrated on Saturday evening. The panel concluded that those extreme predictions did not represent the most likely scenarios.

The New York Post reveals UN-supported Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) had previously revised its warming projection model last month, moving away from a scenario forecasting 4–5°C temperature increases by 2100. This earlier framework had served as the basis for numerous studies warning of catastrophic outcomes from greenhouse gas emissions.

Using that model, researchers had predicted substantial sea level rises, widespread agricultural disruptions, accelerated glacier loss, and similar effects—concerns that alarmed some climate activists who feared potential mass extinction events.
