Instead of focusing on issues that really matter (like poverty and disease), the Left focuses solely on political power and there are many billionaires willing to support them.

A government watchdog group is urging lawmakers to crack down on foreign money flowing into U.S. nonprofits that influence American politics and public policy, according to letters exclusively obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Americans for Public Trust (APT) is sending letters to all 50 governors and officials on six congressional committees directing them to its newly launched FollowForeignMoney.org database, which has cataloged a running total of more than $5 billion flowing from foreign governments, foreign nationals and foreign charities into U.S.-based nonprofits with records dating back to 2002. The group is calling on state and federal officials to examine whether existing laws adequately prevent foreign actors from indirectly influencing political outcomes.

“The information is available. The threat is real,” APT Executive Director Caitlin Sutherland wrote in the letters.

George Soros is the most visible billionaire known for bankrolling left-wing organizations, including environmental groups. He also serves as a convenient public target that lets even richer figures, such as Hansjörg Wyss, operate with far less scrutiny.

Worse, the New York Post revealed four years ago that Wyss routes money through nonprofits that can wait more than a year before reporting those outlays to the IRS, which makes his political spending hard to follow.

The Associated Press also noted during 2022 that in recent years the Swiss billionaire directed more of his giving toward environmentalist groups. One notable recipient tried to buy farmland with the apparent aim of shutting down U.S. agricultural production so that farming moves overseas.

Complaints were filed at the time with the FEC against Wyss and the nonprofits he uses—the Sixteen Thirty Fund and the New Venture Fund—alleging they violated the standards those groups themselves helped put in place. Not surprisingly, the agency did nothing, given the huge sums the Swiss billionaire deploys. His earlier support for Joe Biden and for groups accused of vote fraud that helped remove Donald Trump from office almost certainly contributed to that inaction.

The Daily Caller also reveals that even British billionaire Christopher Hohn is getting in on the action funneling about $638.2 million through his Children’s Investment Fund Foundation.

Foreign money revolving doors (one of whom’s existence is legally questionable) enables a billionaires to, essentially, break the rules. Who’d a thunk it? Only the Left is allowed to engage in funding their efforts using dark money.
