The Plan International charity said Monday that global warming has increased the risk of child marriages, teenage pregnancies and violence against girls.

Climate disasters such as floods, droughts, cyclones, and extreme heat are destroying the health and education services girls depend on while also forcing families to marry off young daughters as a “survival strategy”, Plan International said.

The charity’s “Change Her Forecast, the State of the World’s Girls 2026” report was based on interviews with 5,000 girls and young women aged between 15 and 24 in Bangladesh, Kenya, Peru, Senegal and Zimbabwe.

Presenting climate change as the direct cause of child marriage and teenage pregnancy leaves out the key context. Plan International describes a chain: droughts, floods and other disasters can deepen poverty, disrupt schooling and health care, displace families and heighten desperation—raising the risk of child marriage and exploitation. Their findings draw on a survey of 5,000 girls in five countries plus decades of data from over 50 countries.

However, in nations, like Bangladesh, Senegal, Kenya and Zimbabwe all have Muslims in which 3 out of the 4 countries are Muslim-majority. Unfortunately, pedophilia is rampant in Islamic culture resulting from Islam’s teachings and Muslims patterning their lives after Mohammed who consummated his marriage with Aisha when she was 9 years old. Peru, on the other hand, may have this scourge largely due to uneducated populations or rampant crime resulting from corruption and weak law enforcement that can stop these activities from happening.

Simply put, the horrible practice of child marriage and teenage pregnancy is largely the result of culture, and not climate change. Only at the United Nations could such a ridiculous manuscript be taken seriously and be highlighted by the media. Leave it to a Leftist nonprofit to remove blame where it belongs. I guess we’ll have to accept the Green New Deal since this is now gospel as commanded by global elites.
