Halleluia and praise Jeebus! Help has arrived! PETA outreach group Jesus People for Animals fired off a letter to two Pennsylvania legislators who have authored a bill that would legalize hunting eight to twelve Sundays per year. According to PennLive:

“While Jesus People for Animals opposes hunting God’s creatures on any day of the week, we hope you’ll drop the proposed bill and ensure that Pennsylvania’s wildlife get at least one day of rest every week,” says the letter from Sarah Withrow King to Reps. Farina and Godshall.

“Monday through Saturday, animals are forced to run for their lives. Animal families are torn apart, and many animals are badly injured when hunters miss their targets. The terror of being stalked and ambushed causes hunted animals to endure tremendous stress, and gunfire disturbs otherwise peaceful communities,” says the letter from Withrow King, director of Christian outreach and engagement.

Increasing the number of hunting days could also lead to more hunting accidents and deaths among people, she said.

“Sunday remains the one day on which animals in Pennsylvania are able to live their lives as God intended, in peace,” she asks the legislators, urging them to maintain the Sunday hunting ban.

Amen, sister King and praise god! It is so cool that this Christian group is stepping up to save god’s creatures from certain doom! I mean despite Christianity’s disagreement over which day of the week constitutes the Sabbath, it’s not like humans really are supposed to be superior to animals even though it it says so in Genesis 1:26:

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
