According to the New York Post, a climate activist from Boulder, Colorado named Wynn Bruce has died resulting from injuries he sustained after setting himself on fire on the U.S. Supreme Court’s steps on Earth Day.

The worst part about it, The Post states an Environmentalist Defense Fund senior scientist and Buddhist priest who knew Bruce, named Dr. K. Kritee, called his deed an act of compassion. There’s no indication on her Twitter feed she tried to discourage or dissuade Wynn from killing himself. Wynn’s colleagues and friends revere him in death more than in life.
