New York City Renames Monkeypox Because Of Bigotry Or Something

New York City has bad crime problems, drug addiction problems, monkeypox deaths are on the rise, but the city’s government had to take time to rename Monkeypox MPV out of some ridiculous conclusion that, unless they did, the term Monkeypox would somehow stigmatize gay men who are the primary transmitters of the sickness.

Four months ago, the World Health Organization changed the name for Monkeypox for similar reasons to New York’s.

Then again, like the first tweet notes, MPV could really be interpreted to mean Monkey Pox Virus, so nothing much has changed.
