The iconic Roosevelt Hotel that once claimed Charlie Chaplain and Marilyn Monroe as guests closed resulting from hardships due to COVID-19. It was recently re-opened as a shelter to house illegal immigrants. Shortly after doing so, it became a hub for crime such as drugs, prostitution, and even domestic violence in which 41 people have been arrested at the hotel since its May reopening. As it turns out, most of the occupants are single men.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams has been critical of the amount of the amount of illegals being sent to the Big Apple and has even asked the White House for help. But instead Biden took a shot at Adams for not having an exit strategy. City residents have obviously had enough and a number of them showed up to a recent press conference at Roosevelt Hotel to express their disgust at Democrat politicians that are enabling the problems.
One protester spoke his mind when interviewed by Fox News.
Since New York is heavily Democrat, the argument could be made that city residents voted for this. The Democrats have their agenda and, while can always hope they will take notice, it is unlikely that the protests will have much effect.
Either the illegals will leave on their own due to the resistance they’re experiencing or their being taken advantage of. This is not a good situation for either party but Democrat politicians, ultimately, could care less. Unfortunately, this may be an instance of things having to get worse before they get better.
