Larry Fink has seemingly been forced into hiding.

BlackRock more than tripled its spending on home security for Larry Fink last year, after the asset manager’s chair and chief executive became a target for “anti-woke” activists and conspiracy theorists.

The $10.5tn money manager paid $563,513 to “upgrade the home security systems” at Fink’s residences during 2023, on top of $216,837 of protection by bodyguards, according to BlackRock’s disclosure of executive remuneration in its proxy filed earlier this month.

The 71-year-old head of the world’s largest money manager has been singled out by conservatives and fringe groups as part of a backlash against BlackRock’s use of investing based on environmental, social and governance factors.

While threats of violence or death against BlackRock and CEO Larry Fink are wrong no matter who issues them, unfortunately, this is the risk Fink took dipping the company’s toe into politics. He can’t say this is a sad commentary on the state of American politics and not expect some sort of pushback against his activities.

Not surprisingly, the FT reports other companies who are political (such as Disney and Chase Bank) have ratcheted up security spending too. But in terms of BlackRock, what should be of note is that the FT also reveals the company’s offices have been targeted by climate cultists for protests saying the company isn’t doing enough to promote decarbonization.

It never fails that the nihilistic Left will not only eat their own but when an individual or company capitulates to the them and agrees to somehow implement their policies (like what Fink did by furthering ESG), the Left will make even more demands that more be done. This is a prime example why the Left should not ever be appeased or capitulated to because they will never be satisfied because their end goal is to destroy you or your way of life.
