The core ethic of environmentalism is to sacrifice for the greater good of nature. Consequently, environmentalist groups automatically lay blame on humans (except themselves, of course) for Earth’s problems. That is also the basis of campaigns such as go green, in that it urges people to do their part to reduce their carbon footprint to halt human-induced climate change.
Environmentalists have also extended their logic to urban planning schemes, such as narrowing roads and, during 2017, Los Angeles politicians decided to take up the issue with a concept called a road diet.
In theory, a road diet is to replace certain amounts of traffic lanes for bikes and parking spots in order to make congestion so unbearable that people would resort to riding bikes or using mass transit. A ReasonTV report from 2018 revealed the experience residents of Los Angeles’s Playa Del Rey neighborhood had with the road diet concept.
Other municipalities across the country adopted this concept and, as a result, a recent report reveals New York City is experiencing a high amount of people passing away due to cardiac arrest. This largely resulting from the city’s anti-car efforts that have narrowed streets which, in turn, have heightened traffic congestion.
In a general sense, the left hates the idea of self-reliance (including personal transportation) because it makes it harder to control people. In addition to environmentalists wanting to halt the West’s use of fossil fuels, road diets and, taking into account their anti-human agenda, killing people off is obviously the intention of this and most of their other cockamamie ideas.
