The Supreme Court unanimously overturned a lower court’s decision on Thursday that had blocked a proposed Utah railroad due to potential environmental impacts it wouldn’t directly cause.

The Seven County Infrastructure Coalition sought approval from the U.S. Surface Transportation Board for an 88-mile rail line to link the oil-rich Uinta Basin to the national freight rail network, enabling crude oil transport to Gulf Coast refineries. Not surprisingly, environmentalist groups are furious.
