Surprising isn’t it?
Obama appointee U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams issued a ruling this evening preventing the Trump Administration from transferring additional undocumented detainees to the Alligator Alcatraz facility. According to the Associated Press, Williams further mandated the dismantling of the facility within 60 days.
Alligator Alcatraz is a detention center for illegal immigrants, including individuals accused of serious crimes such as rape, murder, and terrorism. It opened last month under the direction of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the facility is located in the Florida Everglades, surrounded by natural barriers like alligators, pythons, and dense swampland.
Earlier this month, Judge Williams ordered a two-week halt on further construction at the site, citing environmental violations. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis addressed the decision from the Obama-appointed judge, stating, Alligator Alcatraz remains operational, and deportations are proceeding as planned.
The Trump White House quickly appealed Judge Williams’ ruling.
Activist judges, like Williams, will do anything to halt deportations and environmentalist groups are all too willing to sue to stop detention facilities from being built and dismantle the ones being used. Hopefully, her ruling will be overturned soon.
But wait! There’s more!
