Last Monday, multiple environmentalist groups and nonprofits launched a legal challenge against the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regarding its decision to scrap the $7 billion Solar for All initiative, which was designed to expand solar energy access to over 900,000 low-income households across the U.S.
The plaintiffs argue that the Trump administration’s abrupt cancellation of the program violates federal law, and they’re urging a federal court to compel the EPA to restore it. This effort is linked to a broader $20 billion pool of clean energy investments that were also axed under President Donald Trump—funding that EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin previously labeled a wasteful and deceptive operation.
This suit represents the most recent courtroom pushback against the administration’s aggressive rollback of clean energy initiatives, grants, and policies nationwide. Meanwhile, Trump has prioritized ramping up domestic output of traditional energy sources like oil, natural gas, and coal.
In the meantime, Lee Zeldin was on Fox Business recently to discuss, not only the government shutdown and the cancellation of Biden-era environmental programs, but also his discovering billions of dollars in payouts to Biden-connected organizations.
