Despite the day nearly at an end, I hope all of you have or had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Ayn Rand describes the holiday best that Thanksgiving is [A] producers’ holiday. The lavish meal is a symbol of the fact that abundant consumption is the result and reward of production. Abundance is (or was and ought to be) America’s pride—just as it is the pride of American parents that their children need never know starvation.

Taking into account Ayn Rand’s description and its religious orientation is exactly why the left resents Thanksgiving, especially given the history behind it. The nihilistic left wants to destroy the holiday like they want to destroy America, if not all of Western Civilization. Thanksgiving’s history should be told every year since doing so helps undermine the haters.

But, more importantly, the holiday is also one day out of the year to reunite with with family and friends over some great food.Despite the left’s onslaught, there is still a lot to be thankful for, especially since America is still the greatest country on earth.
