The campaign’s silence is very concerning.
Kamala Harris has long urged lower federal income taxes for lower and middle class taxpayers, while supporting higher taxes for corporations and wealthier people – positions she’s reiterated since becoming the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee, without further details.
But those details will likely become a crucial campaign issue, as polls consistently show economics is one of voters’ top concerns.
Harris has continued to talk in broad terms about her tax ideas, notably a pledge not to raise taxes on anyone earning less than $400,000.
As it turn out, even the Daily Caller has reached out to the Harris-Waltz campaign inquiring about the candidate’s stance on carbon taxes due to Kamala Harris previously supporting them. But, so far, has not gotten a response. Since becoming the Democrat’s presidential nominee, the Harris-Waltz has avoided press conferences and has yet to publish a platform describing the two candidate’s stances on issues, such as tax policy. But they make sure visitors to the campaign’s website get a fundraiser pop-up.
A carbon tax is is a fee imposed by the government on carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions aimed at encouraging reductions in emissions. The problem with them is that they will primarily increase expenses for businesses and consumers, while having minimal impact on lowering emissions.
While the campaign’s silence is concerning, this might be a similar strategy to the basement tactics utilized for Joe Biden’s presidential campaign. The Harris-Waltz campaign may have concluded they do not need to spell out their policy positions due to the political machine at their disposal.
