The argument that political violence is a both sides issue is disingenuous. It functions as a subtle mechanism to shift blame onto victims rather than addressing the root causes or specific actors responsible for the violence. The statement equates disparate actions or motivations in order to obscure accountability and minimize the severity of specific incidents.

Batya Ungar-Sargon stands out as a particularly sharp critic of what she views as the modern left’s most troubling tendencies. Drawing on her background as a former liberal and opinion editor at Newsweek, she recognizes the rhetorical strategies and manipulative tactics employed by the Left to shape public discourse.

Following a third assassination attempt targeting Donald Trump and members of his administration, Ungar-Sargon took to social media pulling the left’s mask off beautifully refuting the notion that political violence is equally distributed across the political spectrum. She also posted on Substack making her case too.

At no time have high profile Democrats, like Obama or Hillary Clinton, ever urged Democrats to turn down the temperature, even when they compared Trump to Hitler or adopted a Maximum Warfare election strategy. They always direct their comments at the Right and will even try to use questionable studies to make their case while, simultaneously, smearing the Right with the Left’s crimes.

Problems can’t be solved if your explanation for it depends on blaming the victim. If Democrats are serious about ending political violence, the Left must take responsibility for creating and sustaining a culture that encourages and justifies it against the Right. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely that they will and that’s why the Left must be destroyed.
