Study: Wearing Denim Jeans Causes Climate Change

Everything else causes climate change so, why not?

The haute timelessness of the togs notwithstanding, recent research from Guangdong University of Technology found that wearing a pair of fast-fashion jeans just once creates a whopping 2.50 kg of carbon emissions. The environmental wear-and-tear of the pants is equivalent to driving 6.4 miles in an average gasoline-powered car.

“This study took jeans as an example to reveal the carbon footprint of fast fashion consumption and its additional climate impacts compared to traditional fashion,” wrote the authors of the new report, set for publishing in May 2024.

“Jeans production and cross-broad transportation contributed 91 % of the carbon footprint of fast fashion consumption,” added the experts.

Two years ago, a scientific study was published that revealed the fashion industry was responsible for 8-10% of global carbon emissions. Not surprisingly, there has been little outcry to clamp down on the fashion industry since the climate cult obviously decided the meat industry was an easier target and there is little indication that the Chinese actually care about their nation’s carbon emissions.

China approved 114 gigawatts (GW) of coal power capacity in 2023, up 10% from a year earlier, with the world’s top carbon polluter now at risk of falling short on climate targets after sanctioning dozens of new plants, research showed on Thursday.

In an effort to bring climate-warming emissions to a peak by 2030, China has vowed to “strictly control” new coal-fired generation capacity, and has also connected record numbers of new wind and solar plants to its grid.

Unsurprisingly, the scientist’s findings are being ridiculed on social media.

Environmentalists condemn humans, especially people in the West, for our lifestyles and climate change is another excuse for them to act like moralistic prudes. Hopefully the above response to the Chinese scientist’s study is a trend that people will continue to push back, not just against climate alarmism, but other leftist nonsense.
