The Wall Street Journal recently reported that, after two years of being undecided, the U.S. Energy Department now says that it is likely #COVID-19 originated from a laboratory. The agency joins the FBI in concluding that the virus was released by accident The Journal says. Despite considering their decision as low confidence, this is significant since the Energy Department received new information along with overseeing a number U.S. national laboratories, including some that are involved in advanced biological research.

The FBI considers their conclusion about a lab leak is medium confidence and U.S. intelligence and scientific agencies are still trying to piece together the origins of the coronavirus.
