Non-Citizen Swiss Billionaire Bankrolls Green Political Groups

A foreign money revolving door who’s existence is legally questionable enables a Swiss billionaire to, essentially, break the rules. Who’d a thunk it?

The Berger Action Fund is a nondescript name for a group with a rather specific purpose: steering the wealth of Hansjörg Wyss, a Swiss billionaire, into the world of American politics and policy.

Newly available tax documents show that his giving through the Berger Action Fund, which describes itself as advocating for “solutions to some of our world’s biggest problems,” swelled in 2021 to $72 million, cementing Wyss’ status as a Democratic-aligned megadonor.

As a foreign national, Wyss is prohibited from donating to candidates or political committees. But his influence is still broadly felt through millions of dollars routed through a network of nonprofit groups that invest heavily in the Democratic ecosystem. Such groups don’t have to disclose the source of their funding — or many details about how they spend it.

Representatives for Wyss insist they comply with laws governing the giving of foreign nationals and have put in place strict policies limiting the use of donations to “issue advocacy” — not partisan electoral activities. But the fact that the money cannot be publicly traced highlights the difficulty of putting such assertions to the test.

Those same groups have helped to bankroll efforts to lift President Joe Biden’s agenda and paid for TV ads promoting Democratic congressional candidates ahead of last year’s midterm elections.

George Soros is the most well known billionaire funding leftist groups (including environmentalists), but he is the convenient punching bag that enables even wealthier scum, like Wyss, to remain in the shadows. What’s worse is that, according to the New York Post, Wyss’s donations are funneled through nonprofits who have more than a year to report his outlays to the IRS making his political donations difficult to track.

As the Associated Press points out, the Swiss billionaire has been leaning more toward funding environmentalist groups in recent years. Most notably, one recipient of Wyss’s largess is attempting to buy up farmland in hopes of shutting down U.S. agriculture production that, in turn will result in it going overseas.

Even though complaints filed with the FEC against against Wyss and his nonprofits, the Sixteen Thirty Fund and the New Venture Fund for violating the very standards they put in place, it is not surprising the agency does nothing because of the vast sums of money the Swiss Billionaire puts out. No doubt his prior support of Joe Biden and groups that conducted vote fraud to kick Donald Trump out of office help.
