Meet NPR‘s new CEO Katherine Maher. Prior to assuming her new role in January, Maher was CEO at Wikipedia during the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 election. While at Wikipedia, Maher was actively conducting herself like a gatekeeper on the website (i.e. censorship) related to the coronavirus and the 2020 election (maybe others too).
Her censorship efforts are not mere speculation, since Maher admitted doing so during an Atlantic Council video conference call three years ago that was uncovered by Christopher Rufo.
Not only does she refer to COVID-19 as a novel virus, she made it a point to censor correct information for incorrect information. Meaning her claim that she sought to prevent disinformation was nothing more than gaslighting. Not surprisingly, as Christopher Rufo reveals, Maher is a true believer and her NPR appointment was obviously a reward for her dedication to the cause.
What’s worse is that it is very likely Maher recently involved in the forcing out of NPR‘s senior editor Uri Berliner resulting from his authoring an opinion column at a Substack publication detailing the liberal bias at network. This despite the fact that The New York Times reports Maher stated she was committed to NPR‘s mission of independent journalism and free speech upon assuming her role as the news outlet’s CEO.
“Since stepping into the role she has upheld and is fully committed to NPR’s code of ethics and the independence of NPR’s newsroom,” the statement said. “The C.E.O. is not involved in editorial decisions.”
Ms. Maher said in a statement that in America, “everyone is entitled to free speech as a private citizen.” She heralded the network’s commitment to independent reporting and called on Americans to “listen, watch and read our work.”
“What matters is NPR’s work and my commitment as its C.E.O.: public service, editorial independence and the mission to serve all of the American public,” Ms. Maher said. “NPR is independent, beholden to no party, and without commercial interests.”
Maher is not only a vegetarian and hates cars, but decided not to become a mother because she thinks the planet is literally burning. If there is any consolation with Katherine Maher’s exposure is that, like any typical leftist, she is a clear example of what leftist ideological indoctrination entails, including the censorship, self hatred, and racism that goes along with it. Christopher Rufo told Jesse Watters that he didn’t know how long Maher would last in her new position, but it is anyone’s guess if the scrutiny she’s getting now will be enough to prompt Maher to resign.
